Chapter X: Beyond The Seas Of The Stars, As A Beacon In The Night


verse I:

Then did the people of Väinö know,

what to do with their sword,

and vigor in his chest

knew again Finlands’ man

and took to the hilt of the blade -

and from the power of the peasant

tremble did the grip of the ground

and wiggle the sandy soil,

but the blade doesn’t rise,

not let loose the weapon of Väinö.

Ja through Finland was called

a man to claim the sword

and searched were the shores of Aura

and resounded the woods of Bothnia,

up until the ice of Thule.

But no lifter of the blade

was in the vast land Finland

and without day cried the land

and the men missing the moon.

As brought by a spell a man rose,

he knew his work, knew his way

and guessed the winds of change.

He rose the leader of his land

and watched over the people

and rose high:

as his feet stomped the ground,

his head scraped the clouds,

when his voice rang through the woods,

then the echoes moved the mountains.


verse IV:

And above his head his sword

he did swing once.

And to fell the great oak,

now the here went in his pride

and hills flapped and castles cracked

and rocks slipped and boulders toppled

and rapids ran dry

and rivers closed their mouths

and pines bowed in greeting,

when the hero of the North went.
