The Quality of Mankind (edit)
Is that really only the economical and political crisis that Indonesia faces now? Just look further to the facts, and you will see that the crisis is far deeper and far more serious than ever. Lots of craps like corruption, collusion, and nepotism plague the apparatus within the elite authority. And if everybody is already know that, then how about the issues of the so-called morality?
Thousands of people involved in the riots last May 1998 in Jakarta and some other cities. They looted, destroyed, and burned the properties of fellow citizens. They even tortured, raped, and killed the innocents under the banner of "racial hatred". Where is the morality? Where is humanity? They do not deserved to be called 'homo-sapiens' anymore with their acts. That's not about the social revolution, it was more like a display of total uncontrolled ignorance. Aside from they were being 'used' or more appropriately 'fooled' by the political 'scapegoat-propaganda', or whether it was a part of higher-levels conspiracies by using a plot of Illuminati (maybe)... It shows us clearly that this is the quality of mankind we have, no doubt about that.
That's just another old song. All of us are familiar with those phenomena. They have been occurred all over the world throughout history: genocide, mass murders, wars, etc. We condemn all those things if we're at the victim's stance, but sometimes we justify them if we're at the opposite side.
I've heard some people say like "I am god of my wills and deeds" when the others just plainly behave as they were god. They just think that our human nature is capable to be perfect or to attain perfection by itself. Just see through a history; the 20th century leaders like Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin, and others including the more recently Suharto. Just look how they failed to prevent their individual and group superiority amongst their people, even many people (that they perceived as "must be eliminated") were killed. And if we stretch-out back until the very first centuries of this life, God knows how many more millions were killed by mankind's bloodied hands, but it still no improvement and development at all, we are just as ignorant as before. If someone defend him/herself arrogantly and say, "we will be perfect if we can eliminate our parts of weaknesses". Bullshit!! That's impossible. That is not only a statement of defensiveness, but it looks like a feeble attempt to reach the 'superiority' status over another parties. Are we equal? Yes, absolutely. We are equal in our weaknesses and incapability to take care of this Earth. We are equal in our nature of mankind. We are equal in our nature of sin. Face the facts, face reality.
